A very rare Cartier Art Deco solid eighteen carat gold petrol wick lighter. This is the smaller size model of Cartier's pocket lighter collection. The body of the lighter is fully covered in a herringbone pattern which masterfully continues throughout all of the movable parts of the arm. The arm is built out slightly from the body, enabling the user to easily lift it to strike the over hanging flint wheel. The lighter is in perfect working condition, only needing petrol for use. The piece has French control hallmarks for solid eighteen carat gold, and is marked three times; on the base on the petrol and flint screws as well as on the inside of the arm. The piece is hand engraved "Cartier, Paris" on the screw. The Cartier serial number can still be found stamped on bottom of the opposite screw. Made in France, circa 1930.
